Hospital visits

This last weekend JC started his new schedule at work. His new days off are Tuesday and Wednesday. This last week though, he also had Monday off due to it being a holiday. I was so excited to get to have him home for a few days and just hang out together.
Sunday night I made my weekly call home and talked to the fam. I feel like it's a second O.B. appointment in a way because I can ask my Mom or sister about any questions and concerns I have (they are labor and delivery nurses). This particular time I had talked to my Mom and told her how my O.B.s office had called the week prior and informed me of the results they got from my labs they drew. They had informed me that my platelets were low. My Mom went on to ask me of any other symptoms I had. I told her about being nauseated, heavy cramping all over (like really strong hunger pain cramping), and headaches. I told her I wasn't too worried about it and that I had another O.B. appointment the upcoming Tuesday. She said she wanted me to go in early that next morning. I agreed and said I would. After my Mom I talked to my sister-in-law and then my little sister. While I was on with my little sister, my Mom got on the other line and said that she had changed her mind and she wanted to me to go into the hospital tonight-that I was possibly having symptoms of preeclampsia and that she didn't want to scare me but that in serious cases it can lead to seizures. So, I finished up my conversation and JC and I went into the hospital.
After two hours or monitoring the baby, taking continuous blood pressures, and running some tests the nurse came in and said that we could rule out that it was preeclampsia. She did say that my feet and ankles were starting to swell but other than that we were good to go. At that point, JC and I were so tired but grateful for the news.
Later upon returning home I started my nightly routine to get ready for bed, which includes taking a slow acting insulin that helps keep my blood sugars at a safe level during the night. I was talking to JC as I took the box out of the fridge, dialed the pen, and gave myself my shot. It wasn't until after I put the box back in the fridge that I realized I had just given myself my fast acting insulin (which is what I normally take before meals, but in a much smaller dose than what I had just given myself). I pretty much had just WAY overdosed on the wrong insulin and it would be kicking in pretty fast. Frantically JC and I got our stuff back on and went back to the hospital. The nurses looked at us with a worried look and I explained what had happened. They put me back in the same room and monitored me after having me eat a HUGE meal of sugar, carbs, and protein. After more monitoring the nurse checked me and my blood sugars were in a safe range so I was discharged, again. Needless to say, it was a LONG night for all of us.

scary! I am glad everything is ok now and that you didn't go to the hospital at 31 weeks for the same reason I did. I was a little worried you had gone into labor when I started reading.
