I think it's now safe to post on here about our exciting news. We have told our families and now we can tell our blogging world friends. Last week JC was offered a job by the F.A.A. for an air traffic control man position in......drum roll.....ALASKA!!
At the time of this post we don't know exactly which city we will be based out of but it will be either Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau. We are keeping our fingers crossed for Anchorage but JC feels like it's going to end up being Fairbanks.
I am feeling somewhat better with our decision to accept the job after a lot of prayer. The first couple days I cried at the thought of moving so far away from our friends and family and missing out on our nieces and nephews growing up. But, everything is falling in to place for this to happen. Amongst the sea of emotions we've felt, we acknowledge this as a HUGE blessing.
For the time being we have put the foster care process on hold since we will be moving out of the state. After we get to Alaska and get settled in, we might resume the process there.
I will be done watching the little guy that I nanny for in August. At that time we'll be moving back to Idaho with my parents. JC will transfer to and work at the LOWES in Idaho Falls. In September he will report to Oklahoma for 3 months of training. I am not looking forward to him being gone but it'll be fun to spend time with nieces and nephews. After he gets back from training we will have 8 business days to get ourselves and our stuff to Alaska so he can report for his first day of work up there.
At this point that's all we know but we'll post more as the information becomes available to us.

Holy moly! What an adventure! Best of luck to you guys.
Congrats! My sister and her family just moved to AK in December. And they LOVE it there. They see whales and tons of moose and eagles and go on gorgeous hikes all over. You'll love it!
Ooh hooray - Chet works at Lowes in IF-- Hooray for that--
We're so excited for you. And now this really gives us a reason to take a military hop up there!
Random!! I never in my wildest dreams pictured you being in Alaska! I have very mixed emotions about you being so far away. I'm glad you'll be close for a few months though and I'm very happy you have a job. I have a really good friend down here who is from Anchorage. You can see her blog from mine. It's the Anderson Family. Let me know if you want her email address if you want to ask her questions. By the way, you get PAID to live in Alaska. You get a check each year from the state for living there! What a great adventure you'll have. We will have to come for a visit!
I'm so excited for you and your fun adventure. Everyone I know who had lived in Alaska has loved it and wants to go back.
