Last night I had the awesome opportunity to attend a fireside where Sister Barabara Thompson of the General Relief Society Board spoke. I LOVE this lady! She is an amazing example to me. In last night's fireside she spoke on making plans in our lives and how a lot of times those plans don't pan out the way we had set up for ourselves. She made a comment that she felt at times that she and Heavenly Father were on the same page as she was making decisions and some times they weren't. She told of an experience where she had found a letter from her earlier childhood where she had an assignement to write down where she saw herself in so many years. She went on to say that one of the only things that DID happen was that she had stayed active in the church. Her membership in the church meant that much to her that she was not going to not make that happen.
She also threw out the question, ["How do you receive inspiration?"] Girls in the audience were asked to answer. From the answers given she shared personal experiences along with scriptures that helped support these ideas.
By the end of the fireside I had learned some very insightful things, as well as had some great laughs. I am so grateful to the women of the church who strive to fulfill their callings and serve in our behalf. What a great woman to have as a roll model.
