On Sunday, January 27th our beloved Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley was honorably released from his earthly mission and called home to our Heavenly Father and Mother.
JC and I were on our way home back to Logan from visiting Mom and Dad in Idaho Falls for the weekend. Mom called me to say I had left something and we were cut off in the middle of the call. I couldn't get a hold of her again because my cell phone battery was pretty much dead. A few moments later she was able to get back through to me and passed on the news of President Hinckley's passing. At first I was shocked to hear he had passed away (as we all are when we hear of someone's passing). The rest of the drive home I felt an overwhelming feeling of happiness as I imagined he and his wife who had passed on before him, in a sweet, reunion embrace. I am so grateful for this gospel knowledge that I have been taught all my life.
Like many members of the church, and even people that are not members of our faith, I will remember many wonderful things about President Hinckley. The things I will remember him for are the way he used his sense of humor, humility, love, and sincere kindness in how he represented the Church. He was a joy to listen to and he counsiled us at firesides, General Conference sessions, temple dedications, through church magazine articles, and so on.
President Hinckley, we love you and are so grateful to be on the earth as this time so as to be a part of your life, and you a wonderful part of ours. May we always continue on with your endurance and faith in this gospel as the work of the church rolls forth.

So many people said their feelings of sadness at his passing was overshadowed by joy at his reunion with Sister HInckley, and the other prophets of all dispensations. What a man. What an example.
