Gender confirmation

Today I went to my appointment with the Perinatologist here in Anchorage. I was seeing one back in Idaho and he said after his ultrasound that he felt the baby was measuring small and that my amniotic fluid levels were low. He wanted me to follow up with a Perinatologist when we moved to Alaska. I had told the nurse that when we had our gender ultrasound the tech was only able to give us an 85% confirmation that we were having a boy. She laughed and said, "yeah nothing gets by Dr. Richey. She can tell you".
The doctor came in and started the ultrasound and went through her checklist of everything to see that the baby was growing and functioning normally and on schedule. She had a hard time getting a good picture of the heart and the genitalia. I had to keep turning from side to back to side to back again to side, and so one. The baby was head down with his back to the camera and close legged. She finally caught the baby off guard, got a good open leg shot, and confirmed twice that it was definitely a boy. My motherly instincts from a few months into the pregnancy were that it was a boy but it's nice to have a second, medical confirmation. I saw his spine, legs, hands, fingers, toes, and for a few seconds he turned and looked right at us. Also she got a good side profile shot and he is SO cute! He has JC's side profile. I can't wait to see him--out of the womb that is!!
As for the growth, he is measuring big at this point (2 lbs. 12 oz. and we're only 27 weeks). I was counseled to really tighten up on my blood sugar levels so as to not give birth to a big baby that would end up on the NICU for a while. So now we're praying that things will go well from now until the delivery and that there will be little to no complications.
